Why does the All-In-One Crimp and Termination Tool cut into the plastic end of the RJ45 connector?Updated 7 months ago
This behavior is by design. One of the biggest complaints with passthrough plug technology is the failure of the crimp tool to fully flush cut off the conductor wires. Typically this manifests by not fully cutting through the copper wires as can occur with the stacked "stagger" style plugs, or not fully cutting through the conductor insulation leaving some "hangers" in the more common "straight across" plug arrangement.
In deciding how to address this issue while maintaining wide compatibility between other manufacturers' passthrough plugs, trueCABLE has set the non-adjustable flush cut mechanism to undercut into the small plastic lip by approximately 1.0mm. This does not ruin the plug or termination, won't affect performance, and won't prevent proper plug fitment inside RJ45 sockets. What the undercut does do is ensure the vast majority of your 8P8C terminations are hassle-free by negating the need to go back and make sure there are no conductor wires still attached. Flush cut blade life is not negatively impacted with this mitigation method, but the flush cut blade is replaceable nonetheless.
