Do I need to ground my metal conduit?Updated 4 hours ago

Metallic conduit exceeding three feet in length typically requires grounding, in accordance with NEC/NFPA 70 standards. This applies primarily to metallic conduits extending beyond a simple stub-up or stub-out cable pathway into a Telecommunications Room (TR) or Equipment Room (ER) space. An exception exists for metallic conduit encapsulating a bonding conductor, which necessitates grounding at both ends, regardless of its length.

For optimal performance and personnel safety within a structured cabling system, all metallic components should be bonded to AC ground. It is imperative to possess a thorough understanding of local Code Ordinances pertaining to the bonding and grounding of telecommunications systems, and consultation with a qualified electrician or the local Code Inspector is recommended.
