Why do I have a duplicate or pending charge on my card after placing my order?Updated 2 days ago
In many cases, what appears to be a duplicate charge is actually a temporary authorization hold placed by your bank or card issuer. This can happen during the payment process and may appear alongside the completed transaction.
To help determine what's happening, we recommend checking your statement carefully:
- If one transaction is marked as pending and the other is posted or completed, the pending authorization will typically disappear within 3–7 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.
- If both transactions appear as posted or completed, please contact us so we can investigate further.
You can also contact your bank or card issuer, as they can immediately confirm whether the second transaction is a temporary authorization hold or a true duplicate charge.
PayPal Payment
The second amount you're seeing is most likely a temporary authorization hold placed by PayPal.
This is a common part of the payment process. PayPal may temporarily display both:
- A completed payment (the actual charge), and
- A pending authorization (a temporary hold)
While it can look like you've been charged twice, the pending authorization is not an additional payment and typically disappears automatically within 3–5 business days. You can also log in to your PayPal account to verify this. If you see one completed payment and one pending authorization, that confirms this is what's happening.
If the pending authorization is still showing after 5 business days, we recommend contacting PayPal directly, as they are responsible for releasing authorization holds.
